How to Block Google DNS on D-Link Router

Note: the static route will not work on most D-link routers by using the WAN interface. In order to be able to get the static route working, you should be able to change your interface to LAN. If you are not able to change it to LAN then you will not be able to use this solution.
  1. Enter your router’s settings and check if you use our DNS addresses. If not please set the using this tutorial this tutorial.
  2. Note somewhere your IP address, you will need it later.
  3. Select “Advanced” tab and go the “Routing page”.
  4. Enter the following into the empty fields:

    Line 1
    Destination: 8.8.8.8
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Gateway: Your IP Address (which you have noted down in step 2)

    Line 2
    Destination: 8.8.4.4
    Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.255
    Gateway: Your IP Address (which you have noted down in step 2)

  5. Check the check-box on the left next to each row.
  6. Click on “Save Settings” and “Reboot Later”.

If your router is not working, please restart it.

To verify if your settings are working ping 8.8.8.8 from any computer which is connected to your router.
If ping will fail then your settings are in effect.
