How to set up Smart DNS on Windows 10

In this tutorial we will show you how to set up Smart DNS on Windows 10 but first let’s see what are our requirements and recommendations.

Part I. Validate Your IP Address

If you have already validated your IP address go straight to the “Part II. Change your DNS addresses” of this tutorial.

  1. Sign in to your account on our website and go to Settings -> Validate Your IP Address.
  2. Click on Validate IP button.

If you see the “Validated” green label near your IP address, go straight to the “Part II. Change your Windows DNS addresses” of this tutorial

Remember! You have to validate your IP address each time it changes. If your Smart DNS service is not working, just try to validate your IP address again.

Part II. Change your Windows DNS addresses

This has to be done only once.

It is important to save your original DNS settings before making any changes. You might need them in case you will want to switch back to your original settings.
  1. Right-Click on the monitor or Wi-Fi icon on the bottom right-hand corner. Then Click on “Open Network and Internet Center” (3).

  2. Choose your “Wi-Fi” or “Ethernet” connection (4) and press on “Change adapter options” (5).

  3. Right click on your connection and choose “Properties” (6).

  4. Uncheck the “Internet Protocol Version 6” checkbox (7), then select “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” (8) and click on “Properties” (9).

  5. Select the “Use the following DNS server addresses” option (10) and enter DNS Server addresses (11). You can find them in Settings -> DNS Servers in Your Account on our website. Click “OK” (12).

  6. Restart your computer.

    You will have to do that just once.
  7. Now you have set up Smart DNS on Windows 10. Test if the Smart DNS is set up correctly.
